Star Wars Zero Company Cross Training Guide
Learn how star wars zero company cross training unlocks through Bonds, how permanent pair bonuses work, and which choices best fit each squad role.
What is Cross-training?
Star Wars Zero Company Cross-training is a permanent pair bonus unlocked through the Bond system. When two Operators reach a new Bond level, you choose a training option and both Operators receive its effect. The reward stays with the pairing even when one member is injured, resting in the Medbay, or assigned to a different squad.
Cross-training is therefore a relationship milestone and a roster investment. It gives a reason to develop two Operators together while also improving the company outside a single mission. The exact unlock thresholds, complete option pool, and current version values are To be confirmed.

Where to find Cross-training
Open the Personnel area in The Den and inspect the Bonds or Cross Trainings view. The menu shows Operator pairings, their current relationship level, and the training benefits already unlocked. It is the clearest place to decide which pair needs another shared mission, Operation, or support action.
The Bond scale uses named stages that include Low, Neutral, High, and Very High. A new Cross-training becomes available when a pair advances to a new level. The complete numerical mapping between Bond XP, thresholds, and each stage is To be confirmed, so use the meter and the live reward panel as the final reference.
The menu covers more than authored companions. Custom Operators can form pairings, and the collected material also records Bonds between Astromechs. That makes Cross-training relevant to the full roster rather than a system limited to a fixed group of story characters.
What Cross-training can reward
The benefit applies to both members of the pair. Recorded High-level examples include Timing Exercises for Critical Chance, Reflex Fire Training for Overwatch Damage, and Freeform Training for Focus Points. These examples show the spread of possible rewards across direct damage, reaction attacks, and Operator progression.
Earlier training choices can also target Ranged Damage, Max Health, Grenade performance, Melee Damage, Critical Chance, or the Chance-to-Hit penalty from range. The full early-level list and the exact values should be read as To be confirmed until they match the current Cross Trainings menu. A training option that appears in one campaign may arrive at a different point in another record.
The collected system notes describe the choices as drawn from a random pool for the playthrough. That means two campaigns may show different Cross-training options or present them in a different order. Record the offered choices before selecting one if you are testing a particular pairing or building a long-term squad plan.
How to unlock Cross-training faster
The most reliable starting point is shared deployment. Put the chosen pair in the same Tactical Mission when their roles fit the objective, then use their support opportunities during combat. Completing missions together contributes to their relationship and lets the pairing progress without creating a separate activity every Cycle.
Operations are useful when the same pair can be assigned without weakening the next mission. Some Operations allow two Operators to work together and can increase their Bond while returning Credits, equipment, Influence, or other outcomes. Check the Intel cost, timer, injury risk, and available reward before sending the pair away from the active squad.
Call for Backup can connect the system to ordinary combat decisions. The action is free, one Operator is selected to call on each turn, and the ally can Assist the next attack if line of sight is available. Healing between the Medic and a squadmate, Den dialogue, Dilemmas, and other recorded interactions can also contribute, while exact Bond XP per action is To be confirmed.
How to choose a reward
Choose a reward that helps both members of the pairing. Critical Chance can suit a pair that relies on accurate finishing attacks, while Overwatch Damage can fit Operators who often protect the same lane. Focus Points are more flexible when both Operators still have important Talents, Abilities, or Passives to unlock in the Focus Tree.
Look at the pairing’s weapon types and Specializations before deciding. A ranged bonus has limited value for a pair that rarely attacks from distance, while Max Health can be easier to use across multiple mission types. The best option depends on the two Operators, the rest of the roster, and the choice panel that appears in your campaign.
Remember that Cross-training is locked after selection. Focus Points can be spent in the Focus Tree, while a chosen Cross-training reward does not follow the same refund process. Keep a record of the selected bonus in the Personnel screen so later squad changes do not make the pairing’s role unclear.
Maximum Bond Cross-training
Very High is the highest named Bond tier in the current material. Reaching the maximum level unlocks a special Cross-training tier with a Passive Ability, which is described as the strongest relationship reward. The exact Passive Ability pool and the Bond XP required to reach it are To be confirmed.
Do not rush a maximum Bond at the cost of mission readiness. A pair can continue developing through Operations and Den activity, while the company still needs healthy Operators, Intel, and open Build Slots. Protect the pairing through the same Cycle planning used for every other strategic resource.
Cross-training and romance
Cross-training represents squad cooperation and permanent combat growth. It does not create a romance route or turn a Bond into a dating system. The current confirmed campaign information describes professional relationships, conversations, approvals, and squad-specific story moments, with no player-centered romance path established.
For the broader relationship mechanics, read the Star Wars Zero Company Bonds guide. Romanceable characters, romantic outcomes, and any future system additions are To be confirmed.
