star wars zero company assault specialization guide
Learn the star wars zero company assault specialization role, Bull Rush, Sweeping Salvo, Strike the Flanks, Exposed targets, and movement focused build choices.
What is the Assault specialization
Assault is the mobile frontline Specialization in STAR WARS Zero Company. It is built for medium and close range pressure against enemies hiding in cover, with movement and melee tools that help an Operator reach a better angle. Pick it when the squad needs someone who can create space and turn a flank into a finishing attack.
The class system calls these roles Specializations. Assault is one of eight standard options, and a standard Operator receives an Ultimate, a Standard ability, and two Passives. The exact rank values and several numerical effects are To be confirmed until they are checked in the current build.
Assault ability kit
Bull Rush is the defining movement action. The Operator charges into melee range, gains movement as part of the action, and pushes the enemy that is hit. A target thrown from a ledge can suffer an environmental kill, which makes the surrounding map part of the attack rather than a simple backdrop.
Strike the Flanks is a Passive connected to Exposed enemies. It grants a Critical Chance bonus against targets with that status, while the percentage remains To be confirmed. The Passive becomes more useful after another Operator or an earlier action creates the opening that Assault can exploit.
Sweeping Salvo is the Assault Ultimate. It sends blaster fire through a large cone, damages enemies in the area, and applies Disoriented. The ability uses the squad’s shared Advantage pool instead of Action Points, while its final Advantage cost and rank values remain To be confirmed.
How to play Assault in combat
Assault works best when the first move changes the geometry of the fight. Use cover and line of sight to approach, then decide whether Bull Rush should push a target away from protection, into another attack lane, or toward an environmental hazard. The ability creates more value when the destination helps the next Operator as well as the Assault user.
A close range attack still needs a safe exit. Check enemy Overwatch, retaliation, nearby cover, and the movement required for the next turn before committing to a charge. If the target cannot be finished, leave a route back to cover or use the push to reduce the threat instead of spending the turn on damage alone.
Sweeping Salvo is suited to a group that has already been gathered into a useful cone. Disoriented enemies can give the squad a better follow-up turn, while the shared Advantage cost competes with other Ultimate abilities. Build Advantage through successful damage and spend it when the area effect changes the next exchange.
Operators and class pairings
Jae Mordant starts with Assault as her default Specialization. Her Final Shot Talent can execute an enemy below a health threshold after an ally attacks, once per turn, so the movement in Assault can help her reach the position needed for that trigger. The threshold and upgrade values remain To be confirmed.
Kabb Uppercut has an authored Assault and Soldier recommendation. Bull Rush places Kabb in range, and an Uppercut kill can restore the Action Points spent on that attack . Soldier then adds Brutal Strike, grenades, and Rocket Strike, giving the melee approach several ways to continue the turn.
Scout can help an Assault squad by revealing enemies and generating Advantage for later Ultimates. Scoundrel can prepare a target with Vulnerable or Assist setup before the Assault commits. These are role connections rather than a mandatory pair, because the useful choice depends on the map, the target’s cover, and the other three Operators.
A reliable Assault turn
Start the turn by identifying the target that benefits most from a push. If removing cover opens a line for a Sharpshooter or Gunslinger, the movement action can be worth more than a normal attack. If the target stands near a ledge, check whether the environmental kill is possible before committing to Bull Rush.
After Bull Rush, read the new formation instead of repeating the same attack automatically. A surviving target may now be in an Overwatch zone, outside cover, or between Kabb and the route back to the team. Use the new position to create a follow-up, then leave enough Action Points for cover or a control action when the enemy response is still dangerous.
Sweeping Salvo is best treated as a team turn. Gather enough Advantage through successful damage, choose a cone that includes targets the squad can reach, and use the Disoriented result to reduce the pressure on the next exchange. The exact area, cost, and rank progression are To be confirmed, so do not spend the pool when another class needs it to recover or finish a priority target.
Weapon and build choices
Weapon Class is a separate build layer from Specialization. The system names four weapon types and does not permanently lock a weapon to a single class. The final weapon matrix and every modifier are To be confirmed, so choose the weapon around the range the Assault Operator can actually reach instead of treating the class name as a weapon rule.
Talents are also separate from Assault. Authored Operators keep their identity Talents through a standard-class respec, while custom Operators choose from Universal Talents. An Assault build can therefore emphasize movement, damage, recovery, or campaign resources without changing the class definition.
Assault compared with nearby roles
Assault and Soldier both support direct offense, yet they solve different combat problems. Soldier adds general weapon and grenade damage, melee Daze, and rocket area pressure. Assault contributes movement, pushing, flanking, and Disorient, so it is the better fit when reaching the enemy matters as much as raw damage.
Heavy also occupies the frontline, with armor, Taunt, Retaliation, and survivability tools. Assault usually wants a route through the fight, while Heavy wants to hold attention in a position that lets the rest of the squad work. A balanced team can use the two roles together when one Operator creates space and the other protects it.
What remains To be confirmed
The final percentage for Strike the Flanks is To be confirmed. It also leaves the Advantage price and rank progression for Sweeping Salvo under review, along with the complete Bull Rush interaction table. Do not turn unconfirmed numbers into permanent build requirements until the current in-game data confirms them.
Assault’s broad identity is clear enough for early planning. Use movement to attack exposed angles, push enemies where the squad can reach them, and preserve a safe route after the charge. Exact rank values, weapon restrictions, and late campaign upgrades are To be confirmed.
