Star Wars Zero Company tactical mission objectives
Read Star Wars Zero Company tactical mission objectives, then plan movement, cover, rescue, sabotage, defense, elimination, and extraction around each prompt.
The direct answer
Star Wars Zero Company tactical mission objectives are the combat-layer conditions that end a Tactical Mission. They appear in the top-left interface and on the map, and they can change after the squad reaches a target or completes an interaction. Follow the current prompt rather than assuming that the first target or the largest enemy group is the whole mission.
The most important rule is that combat is only one way to make progress. A mission may ask for rescue, retrieval, sabotage, defense, occupation, investigation, or extraction. You do not need to defeat every enemy unless the objective explicitly asks for a full clear.
Tactical prompts versus Operations
Tactical objectives happen after Operators deploy to a battlefield. Movement, cover, attacks, abilities, Overwatch, and extraction all take place in this layer. Operations remain non-combat assignments on the Galaxy Map and can return rewards, add narrative context, or unlock further content without using a full tactical map.
The distinction matters when you are reading the Holotable. A map option can lead to an Operation that spends Intel, or to a Tactical Mission that deploys the selected squad and advances the campaign to the next Cycle. Read the panel and objective type before assigning a squad or spending resources.
The prompt families to expect
The tactical prompt families include:
- Move To Location and Narrative Interact for reaching or investigating a place.
- Rescue Soldier and Defend VIP for protected targets that must survive.
- Gather Supplies, Destroy Target, and Sabotage Plant The Charge for item, destruction, or charge-planting work.
- Occupy Region and its announcement or evacuation variants for marked areas.
- Escape, Evac, and Escape Progress for moving every required unit out.
- Defeat All Enemies, Sweep, and Crisis Defeat Tagged Unit for full clears or marked elite targets.
- Delay, Long Interact, Timing Delay, Trigger Encounter Logic, and Watch Cutscene for state changes that can lead to another prompt.
The exact text may be shorter or more specific in the active mission. Use the displayed condition to determine success and failure. The complete release-build mapping between every internal label and every mission remains To be confirmed.
Plan the first tactical turn
Start by locating the objective marker and the safest route to it. Each Operator normally has three Action Points, and movement, attacks, abilities, and Overwatch compete for those points. Move far enough to make progress, then end in cover or leave a reaction lane when the objective cannot be completed in one turn.
Do not let the prompt pull the whole squad into the open. A fast Operator can scout or approach while another holds a doorway, bridge, or rooftop route. If reinforcements are expected after the interaction, keep health, healing, and Advantage available for the next phase.
An objective often rewards a different target priority than a standard battle. In an extraction mission, kill only what blocks the exit. In a rescue mission, remove enemies that can shoot the protected person. In an elimination mission, clear every hostile and check the edges of the map for a late reinforcement.
Rescue and extraction objectives
The Ryloth rescue route begins with two captive resistance fighters. The squad reaches each target, keeps both alive, and then moves all four original Operators plus both rescued fighters into the extraction zone. The final counter is recorded as 6/6, so a character who is close to the line but not inside it does not count.
The Dantooine Rescue Operation example uses a different protected-target pattern. The squad reaches a captive Republic intelligence officer under a four-turn target window, triggers the rescue, and then evacuates every Operator while keeping the officer alive. The encounter does not require a full enemy clear, so movement and healing are more important than chasing reinforcements.
In both cases, the prompt changes the route after the rescue. Move the protected unit early enough to avoid being left behind, keep it out of the most exposed lane, and check the counter before ending the final turn. The exact behavior of every protected target and every extraction zone is To be confirmed outside the recorded examples.
Interaction and defense objectives
Interaction objectives can be longer than a single button press. In Anaxes Buy Cheap, Never Sleep, a Safecracker step begins after the squad reaches the supply cache, then changes the objective to defend the interaction through three stages while droids arrive. The final phase moves the four Operators to an elevated landing pad.
This pattern makes the interaction point a temporary objective, not the end of the mission. Place the squad where it can protect the Operator performing the action, then watch the prompt for the next stage. When reinforcements arrive, hold the route or fall back toward the next marker instead of assuming that the original position is still safe.
Elimination and tagged-target objectives
Dead Metal on Serolonis is the clearest full-clear example in the recorded routes. The objective is defeating the Separatist forces and eliminating all hostiles, including doorway reinforcements and a shielded Droideka. A five-round result with 18 enemies defeated is a recorded run result, not a universal performance requirement.
Crisis Defeat Tagged Unit has a narrower target. The prompt names a Coil elite, so the mission may end after that unit is defeated even when other hostiles remain. Check whether the interface also includes a Sweep or Defeat All Enemies condition before moving toward extraction.
How to confirm the objective is complete
Watch the tracker after every interaction, rescue, reinforcement wave, or move. A mission success screen should appear when the final condition resolves. If it does not, check the marker, the protected target, the extraction count, the remaining hostile list, and any unit that has not completed the required interaction.
A mission can be restarted from the game menu. Use a restart to test the objective when the route fails early or when a protected unit dies. Do not infer an unrecorded campaign penalty or reward from a single failed attempt.
The practical rule is compact. Read the current prompt, spend Action Points on the required state change, protect the units named by the objective, and stop fighting when the objective says to leave. Tactical mission objectives are the route through the map, not decoration around the battle.
