star wars zero company exotic classes explained
Learn the star wars zero company exotic classes, including Jedi Padawan, Mandalorian Warrior, Astromech, story locks, and the secret fourth class.
What are Exotic Classes
STAR WARS Zero Company has four Exotic Classes alongside eight standard Specializations. Exotic Classes are tied to the nature of specific story characters, so they are not another pool that every recruit can freely select. Astromech is the exception because it can be created through the in-game droid builder.
The distinction matters for both recruitment and campaign risk. A generic recruit can use standard classes, while Jedi Padawan and Mandalorian Warrior stay attached to their named Operators. The class system also says only one of each Exotic Class can be fielded at a time, with Astromech excepted because multiple droids can occupy the squad.
The four Exotic Classes at a glance
Jedi Padawan is locked to Tel-Rea Vokoss. It uses Force abilities and dual lightsabers, including Force Push and Force Pull in the confirmed descriptions. If Tel-Rea dies while Permadeath is active, the Jedi Padawan class is gone for that campaign .
Mandalorian Warrior is locked to Cly Kullervo. The class centers on her jetpack and Mandalorian equipment, while the Combat Jump Talent gives her the jetpack movement and remains if she later respeccs into a standard class. The full exotic ability table and every rank value remain To be confirmed.
Astromech is connected to the droid builder rather than one named story character. Each droid unit type has different abilities and its own personality. Astromechs can be support and crowd-control focused, use grenade and utility loadouts, and are the only Operators that can take the Built-In Comlink Universal Talent.
The fourth Exotic Class is confirmed to exist, yet its name and owner have not been revealed. The PC Gamer material says the studio may announce it later or leave it for players to discover in the game. Its identity, story lock, and ability kit are To be confirmed.
How Exotic Classes differ from standard roles
Standard Specializations can be changed through the Focus Tree for most characters. The class overview lists Assault, Gunslinger, Heavy, Medic, Scoundrel, Scout, Sharpshooter, and Soldier as the standard group. Their ability structure is shared across the system, with Heavy carrying one extra Passive.
Exotic Classes use character identity as part of the build. Tel-Rea’s Force abilities and Cly’s jetpack are attached to the Operator who owns them, while a custom recruit cannot simply take Jedi Padawan or Mandalorian Warrior. This keeps the exotic role special even when the character also receives a secondary standard Specialization later in the campaign.
Astromech is more flexible in roster terms. Bit Reactor confirms that Astromechs unlock early, and the game allows a full Astromech team once recruitment is available. Hawks remains required on story missions, while every other squad slot can be filled by an Astromech in the stated rule.
How to use Jedi Padawan
Tel-Rea’s Force Push can move an enemy out of cover and may push the target into a friendly Overwatch zone. Force Pull is also named in the achievement material, giving the Jedi a way to change enemy positions rather than simply trade damage. Dual lightsabers give the class a close range identity, so the rest of the squad must help control the approach.
The class is especially sensitive to Permadeath. Losing Tel-Rea removes the Jedi Padawan option from that campaign, so an aggressive push has a larger cost than a normal missed attack. The exact Force costs, movement values, and full ability list are To be confirmed.
How to use Mandalorian Warrior
Cly Kullervo’s Combat Jump can reposition her with the jetpack and push nearby enemies out of position. The jump does not trigger Overwatch or Retaliation, which makes it useful for entering a flank or breaking a crowded formation. Those interaction details should still be checked against the current class card.
Ruthless, Electro Web Dart, and Electro Web Surge are part of the Mandalorian ability direction. The dart applies a shock that can be detonated by the surge, while the surge can ignore Defense against affected targets. Final names, ranks, costs, and status duration are To be confirmed.
How to use Astromechs
Astromechs are support and utility Operators. Their droid abilities can grant Action Points, scan enemies, add uses to limited Utility items, or throw explosives, with exact effects depending on the unit type. Developer cited examples include firebombs, thermal detonators, and droid poppers.
The droid builder is part of the class identity. A player can choose a unit type and receive a different ability package and personality, so the class is broader than a single named build. The complete unit list, recruitment timing, and final ability values are To be confirmed beyond the early unlock and multi Astromech rules already available.
Exotic Classes and the rest of the build
Every Operator still has a Talent, a Weapon Class, and possible standard Specializations around the exotic role. Authored Talents stay tied to the character, while custom Operators use Universal Talents. A second standard Specialization unlocks later through the Focus Tree, but exotic classes cannot be reassigned to generic recruits.
The shared Advantage pool also matters. Standard and Exotic class Ultimates can compete for the same resource, while smaller abilities may use Advantage without spending Action Points. A Scout can generate information and Advantage for Tel-Rea or Cly, and a Medic can protect a risky exotic flank with recovery and Combat Stim.
What remains To be confirmed
The four class count and the broad ownership rules are clear in the game. The fourth class name, its owner, the complete Astromech unit table, and several exotic rank values are still unknown. Do not infer the secret class from the current three named options or from a single image.
Exotic Classes reward a different planning habit from standard classes. Protect Tel-Rea because her death removes the Jedi option, use Cly’s mobility with an aggro plan, and build Astromechs around the support job of the chosen droid type. Exact costs, ranks, and final unlock details are To be confirmed.
